What defines a good artist? How do we get there?
Grim Reaper you will not define me, I will not enter that prison. Such prisons that are created from our own limitaions. I will see you, but I will seek out my own vision.
Beautiful Goddess art defined, how do you make great art?
Engross yourself in it. Let it fold over your skin till it becomes you.
Is it when you breathe, and then decide that it is not possible to think of anything else; that your goal is in achieving great art and bathing in the passion you know is in your being?
I think yes, I think the answer in in finding oneself.
DEFINE YOURSELF
How does one become a scorpion that sets eyes on its prey and insists no other outcome other than submission?
Engross Yourself in the mind that is yours to have... don't be lazy...
Ahhh, yes! I speak to ME!
Entertain ideas and quotes by other artists you might admire ... try Kandinsky.
It's kind of funny, you don't really have to like an artist's work to appreciate their mind and how they arrived to their particular talent, not completely. It is PASSION and OBSESSION that you want, that I want anyway. I long to succumb to that world, let its will drive me to know who I am.
Do you know who you are, within the myriad of obtainable artistic goals?
I confess that I do not, yet I am trying. What else is there to do?
I WANT IT!!
I think you do too or you would not be at this point on the page of what I have written. Humm?
SHARE with me how YOU think we can get there, in my comments. Remember too as you leave comment? We are all in the same boat of trying.. OK?
Tell me...
How do you find the goddess of art, the scorpion drawing that defies the critics, defy the ward of the grim reaper, that tells you that you are not good enough and you will never be a good artist?
How do you paint something great, so that when people walk into the room and see it, they are not sure if they 'get it' , but they cannot stop looking at it. How do you bring your soul to the canvas, clay, metal sculpture, etched glass, even a scrapbook?
How do you define yourself as a good abstract painter, or within the realm of realism, impressionism, modern art, portrait or figurative art?
How do you make great art?
One thing to help you reach the level you desire is to engross yourself in it.
When you breathe, know that it is not possible to think of anything else, but your goal in achieving great art and bathing in the passion you know is in your being.
Another is to DEFINE YOURSELF within that world you long for. Read all you can of the words of great artists who came before you or ones you admire.
Wassily Kandinsky had some enlightening things to say:
"Every artist, as creator, must learn to express what is personally characteristic."
"Every artist, as a child of his era, must express what is characteristic of this age."
"Every artist, as servant of the art, must express that which is characteristic of art generally.
-- Wassily Kandinsky in his "About the Spiritual in Art and Especially in Painting".
Breathe these words in, define yourself, seek out what you know is there for you, grab on to those grim reaper drawings, pictures of cats kittens, whimsical angels, whatever it is you love and then create!
I will too! OK? We have a pact now, a promise.
Aloha, Kathy
